Japanese Martini

If you’ve ever enjoyed an excellent Martini, you understand how the perfect combination of gin, dry vermouth, and bitters can transform a regular evening into a magical one.

Another really exciting aspect of this cocktail giant is just how many variations on the martini are possible. If you like them strong and dry, there’s a recipe for that. Prefer yours with equal parts gin and vermouth? Just make it a “wet” martini. And then there are the fantastic savory renditions – the dirty Martini and the Gibson come to mind immediately.

When we released our Iki Japanese Bitters by Embitterment, we knew immediately that they were destined for a great martini. The traditional flavor palette of Japan is spicy, savory, and summons the power and beauty of the sea. We capture these characteristics in our Japanese Martini.

Reciepe

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz dry vermouth
  • 1-2 droppers Iki Japanese Bitters
  • Lemon twist garnish

Combine these ingredients in a mixing glass and stir until properly diluted and chilled. Strain into your favorite stemmed cocktail glass, express the oils of your lemon twist, and enjoy.

You’ll notice the spice from the wasabi and the savory seaweed and shiitake mushroom first, and these notes will be followed by warm ginger and gentle green tea on the finish.
